Safety and Security describes crime and safety conditions in the area around a property — reported burglaries and violent crimes, as well as whether the property is located within an area designated by the Police as vulnerable.
This dimension is one of the parts of Social Factors and is shown in the property card under Risk & Environment.
Important: The factor level (low, medium or high) is produced by Kliva based on statistical data and averages, and should be seen as an indication — not a definitive truth about an area. The function is in beta, so both the data and the weighting may be adjusted.
Subcategories, sources and scope
Safety and Security combines several indicators. Source and scope per indicator:
Subcategory | Source | Scope |
Reported burglaries per capita | Kolada | Municipality |
Reported violent crimes per capita | Kolada | Municipality |
Location within a police-designated vulnerable area | the Swedish Police (Polisen) | Property level (within/outside the designated area) |
Location within an area designated by the Police as vulnerable weighs double compared with the other indicators in this dimension.
Weight
Safety and Security accounts for 10% of the combined index for Social Factors in Sweden (20% in Finland). Read more about how the weighting works in Weighting for Risk Index.
